Executive Director – Bogdan I. Slobodian
Bogdan I. Slobodian is an Executive Director of the state enterprise Ukrainian Geological Company (UGC). He joined this enterprise in 1987. Mr. Slobodian was appointed as an Executive Director in 2013. Prior to this, he held the positions of Deputy Executive Director and Financial Director within the state enterprise “UGC”.
Bogdan I. Slobodian obtained higher education in the specialty of an engineer-geologist in Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in 1981. In addition, he received Master’s Degree in Finance in Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman, 2008.
Mr. Slobodian began his career in 1981 as a geologist in Kazakhstan. He worked in the positions of a geologist, a Chief of the department, a Supervisor of the party, a Chief of the Central Laboratory, an Executive Director of the Ukrainian Scientific and Production Center of Geochemical Research.
Bogdan Slobodian is an author of about 20 projects and reports on the performance of various types of geological exploration works. He had internships in the USA and Mongolia in the company “Centerra Gold” where he organized geological exploration and gold mining. During his internship in the USA, he studied the organization and performance of various works and tasks which were accomplished by the USA Geological Survey (USGS), the Western Department in San Francisco.
Mr. Slobodian is a Project Director of “Development, implementation and certification of control quality systems” in accordance with the requirements of international standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ONSAS 18001 at the enterprises included in the management of the State Geological Service.
He is a Certified Public Accountant of quality management and environmental management systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).
Chief Geologist – Vasyl L. Prikhodko
Vasyl L. Prikhodko is currently a Chief Geologist in the state enterprise “UGC”.
Mr. Prikhodko received a higher education in the specialty of Geological Engineer in I. Franko Lviv State University in 1980. He is a Doctor of Geological Sciences.
In 1970 Vasyl L. Prikhodko began his career in Kazakhstan after graduating from Drohobych Oil College. He has been working at this enterprise since 1972. Prior to being appointed as a Chief Geologist, he held the position of a technician-geologist.
Under his leadership dozens of mineral deposits were explored and mineral resources were approved by State Commission of Ukraine on Mineral Resources.
In different years Mr. Prykhodko performed and consulted works on geological exploration
in African countries: Angola, Exeterine Guinea, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Namibia.
Mr. Prykhodko visited such countries as Mongolia, Poland, Spain, Holland in order to get acquainted with the geology of individual deposits, the activities of geological services.
Chief Geophysicist – Lubomyr M. Shymkiv
Lubomyr M. Shymkiv is a Chief Geophysicist in the state enterprise “UGC”.
He obtained higher education in the speciality of a mining engineer and geophysicist in Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas in 1967.
Mr. Shymkiv began his career in 1967 after graduation in the Research Institute within the same university, where he participated in the implementation of the project on the intrusion of detailed shallow seismology prospecting in a complex of geophysical studies in the Transcarpathian Region.
The works were performed on request of the expedition of a trust “Kievgeology”.
Since 1970 Mr. Shymkiv has been working at the state enterprise “UGC”. He was appointed as a Chief Geophysicist in 1992. Prior to that, he held various positions including a Senior Geophysicist, a Head of Experimental and Methodological group, a Chief geophysicist of group of parties.
During the period of his work, he took direct part and headed the introduction of seismology prospecting methods and features of their complex interpretation for studying the internal structure of the crystalline shield and its slopes, the volcano-sedimentary cover of Volyn-Podillya (diamonds, copper), sulfur deposits of the Carpathian region, etc.
Lubomyr M. Shymkiv carried out methodical management of comprehensive studies on the level setting of seismic hazard of the Rivne and Khmelnitsky NPPs. He performed the analysis of materials for the geological and geophysical substantiation of the selection of high-level radioactive waste disposal sites within the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
From 1989 till 1991 Mr. Shymkiv was a head of complex geological and geophysical researches on the choice of an area and a site for nuclear power plant in the DPRK.
In order to get acquainted with new technical means of geophysical researches, experience exchange and consultations, he visited Poland, Canada, Egypt.
